International Studies
The Bachelor of International Studies is an innovative degree that satisfies a growing demand, in Australia and abroad, for graduates who are highly skilled, well informed and professionally equipped to meet the challenges of work in a rapidly changing global environment.
International Studies at UNSW
The UNSW Bachelor of International Studies is a rigorous four-year program in which students are required to specialise in one of seven major areas of study. The degree includes three years of study at UNSW and a one year Overseas Study Program at an approved partner university overseas, including Europe, Asia or the Americas.
The program examines the dynamics of global and regional change; explores key developments in international relations and international economics; evaluates the implications of globalisation; encourages acquisition of relevant languages; and discusses questions centred on nationalism, political sovereignty, social change, multiculturalism, and transnational interaction in an increasingly integrated world.
Students have the opportunity to complete specialised study of a major geopolitical region. This study is complemented by developing new or existing language skills.
