Centre for Gender-Related Violence Studies

The Centre for Gender-Related Violence Studies (CGRVS) was established in 1999 and aims to contribute to the outreach and community engagement of UNSW by prioritising projects that specifically focus on engagement with ‘communities', service providers and service users in gender-related violence contexts. CGRVS believes that research should contribute to the important goal of community engagement, encapsulated in the recursive relationship between practice and research expressed in the concepts - ‘practice-informed research' and ‘research-informed practice'. As such it is an approach to research that extends and enables participation in the research process beyond UNSW researchers. Current research projects include the Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearinghouse and collaborative research partnerships with Relationships Australia South Australia (RASA), The Spastic Centre of NSW, Northcott Disability Services, Burnside Uniting Care and Advocates for Survivors of Child Abuse (ASCA).

Australian Domestic & Family Violence Clearinghouse

The Clearinghouse is part of the Centre for Gender-Related Violence Studies and is a national organisation, providing high quality information about domestic and family violence issues and practice. The primary goal of the Clearinghouse is to prevent domestic and family violence. We do this by supporting specialist and generalist service providers, government agencies, researchers, advocates and activists in their efforts, through the dissemination of information and research, and through facilitating discussion.
