Criminology Honours

Students who complete the minimum requirements for a BSocSc in Criminology Pass degree including the 48 units of credit BSocSc Core program, and the 24 units of credit in core courses Criminology, both with a Credit average; and SLSP3911 Inquiry and Interpretation in the Social Science, will receive an invitation to continue to Honours which will take one year of fulltime (or 18 months part-time) study to complete. The Honours Program in Social Science and Policy in Criminology is designed to provide students with appropriate training and guidance for the completion of a major piece of social science research. Graduates of the Program should be able to demonstrate their ability as autonomous social researchers and are well-prepared for a career in social science and policy in criminology in a variety of organisational settings. Some may proceed to a PhD or other research degrees. The program requires completion of fourth year seminars, and a substantial research project based on original research on a topic approved by the School.
